Welcome to Redfield and our music program!

It is my first year teaching, so here are some things you'd probably like to know about me. I grew up in Aberdeen, SD and graduated from Aberdeen School District with my diploma in 2018. I then attended Northern State University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's in Instrumental Music Education in 2022. Growing up, I joined orchestra playing cello in 4th grade, band on alto saxophone in 6th, and became a self-taught guitarist in 9th. I believe that music is an essential part of education and I believe it guides students to finding parts of themselves that nothing else can. That's what it did for me anyway!

Here in Redfield I teach Middle School Band, High School Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band, Pep Band, and half of our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade elementary music. My wife, Mrs. Unruh, is the choral director and my other half in and out of the school. If you're hearing music in Redfield, chances are we're involved.

The program here in Redfield has great roots and legacy and my goal is to reconnect with those roots and hopefully start new ones too.

I hope to see as many of you as possible at concerts throughout the year and I encourage you to involve your children in music whenever possible.
